There are several answers why you are not able to connect to a particular site but we would discuss one possible option. This happens when you replace your old ADSL Modem Router with a shiny new one and suddenly you are not able to view certain websites. Particularly we have heard this from people using Philips routers like the one below:
And in many cases the reason why some sites are showing while others are not is impossible to understand. Meanwhile the answer is quite simple. Philips makes decent ADSL Routers but they seem to be a bit overprotective. Many Websites use interactive approach, e.g. can check your screen resolution or browser to adjust themselves accordingly. Virtually all ADSL Modem Routers have a built-in firewall. But somehow the settings for Philips are way to strict which makes this, otherwise good and reliable, device “overprotective”.
To solve the connection problem you should disable the built-in firewall (it is impossible to adjust it’s settings) and use a software firewall like built-in Windows Firewall or ZoneAlarm
